We welcome the new year with a team trip to Batu Pahat Cocoa Farms and JB Cocoa Sdn Bhd on 8 January 2020. This trip allowed our team to learn, experience and visit a cocoa farm (which we have none in Singapore). What makes a cocoa farm special is the way it takes chocolate out of the context of a supermarket, and back to its origins. The team was able to suck the pulp straight off of a freshly-broken pods while learning the different breeds of cocoa fruits and the fermentation process - an unforgettable experience for city folks.
The team was also able to vist JB Cocoa - one of the major cocoa ingredient producers in Malaysia. JB Cocoa manufactures cocoa butter, cocoa powder, cocoa liquor, and cocoa cake. We were able to go on a factory tour to see the massive facility and learn about the different grinding processes.
